Salar de Uyuni (Spanish Salar de Uyuni) - a dried-up salt lake in the desert plains of southern Altiplano, Bolivia at an altitude of about 3650 meters above sea level. Has an area of 10 582 km ² and is the largest salt marsh in the world.
The interior of the marsh is covered with a layer of salt thickness of 2.8 m. During the rainy season is covered with a thin layer of saline water and is transformed into the world's largest mirror, it reflects the blue sky in South America.
By some estimates, the Salar de Uyuni contains reserves of 10 billion tons of salt, of which annually produces less than 25 tons thanks to the development of tourism on the Salar de Uyuni locals began to build hotels from salt blocks, where you can stay for the night. Every year in November at the Salar de Uyuni arrive at the breeding of three species of South American flamingos - Chilean flamingo, Andean flamingos and flamingo James.
